# How to factory reset IoT gateway on Warrior EDGE in case of a lost password, using a USB stick

This aricle explains how to factory reset IoT gateway on a Warrior EDGE welding system using a USB stick.

| This scenario applies when you lost your gateway password and need to reconfigure your Warrior EDGE machine

||| Please take care IoT gateway will be reset to factory conditions. You need to configure it again afterwards

Please ensure following requirements are met:

1. USB stick formatted as FAT32

###### Reset procedure

* Create an empty file on your computer with name ${color}[#0000ff](**.perform_factory_reset**)

|| dot at the beginning of file name is mandatory. Please look at below instructions on a possible way on how to create such a file
**1.** Launch Notepad on Windows

**2.** Click "File"

**3.** Click "Save As..."

**4.** Write ".perform_factory_reset" in File name field. Please make sure to include quotes both at the beginning and at the end

**5.** Click "Save"

**6.** Now you should have on your Desktop a filled called .perform_factory_reset

* Copy file created in USB stick root
* Power off Warrior EDGE machine
* Open the USB port cover on the front of the power source

* Remove either WiFi or Bluetooth dongle (if any, it does not matter which one) and insert USB stick with reset file just created

* Turn on Warrior EDGE and wait 2 minutes
* Power off Warrior EDGE, remove USB stick and reconnect the dongle eventually removed
* Power on Warrior EDGE and access IoT gateway with default credentials (username: ${color}[#0000ff](**admin**), password: ${color}[#0000ff](**gateway**))

| To check reset has been peformed, you could insert USB stick into a PC and check file on it has been renamed to ${color}[#0000ff](**.performed**)
