How to Create a Welding Book

How to create a Welding Book — a submission package of welds, WPSs, and inspections for client approval. Also usable as a shop floor instructions manual.


Procedure — Step by Step


1. Create the Welding Book


  1. Click "Welding Book" in the sidebarWelding Book


  1. Click "New"New


  1. Create a new Project or search for an existing oneProject


  1. Fill in all the project detailsDetails


  1. Click "Create Project"Create Project


  1. Enter Welding Book name, date, and company → click "Create the Welding Book"Create Welding Book


2. Add Welds


  1. Click "Welds"Welds


  1. Click "Add Weld"Add Weld


  1. Enter the weld nameWeld name


  1. Select the WPS to assign

  1. Select welding processes (e.g. 141 = GTAW, 135 = GMAW)

  1. Select weld type (e.g. BW - Butt Weld)

3. Add Inspections


  1. Add inspections to each weld after saving

  1. Select inspection type (e.g. VT - Visual Testing)

  1. Set timing (e.g. Post-weld) and scope (e.g. Weld)

  1. Save the inspection

  1. Click "Go Back" to add more welds

  1. Repeat the weld + inspection process for additional welds

4. Add Drawings (Optional)


  1. Click "Drawings" and select from the library

5. Generate PDF


  1. Click "Save" then "Create Welding Book"
