How to factory reset Compulab gateway in case of a lost password, using a USB stick

This aricle explains how to factory reset Compulab gateway using a USB stick.


This scenario applies when you lost your gateway password and need to reconfigure your Compulab gateway.


Please take care Compulab gateway will be reset to factory conditions. You need to configure it again afterwards


Please ensure following requirements are met:


  1. USB stick formatted as FAT32



Reset procedure


  • Create an empty file on your computer with name .perform_factory_reset


dot at the beginning of file name is mandatory. Please look at below instructions on a possible way on how to create such a file

  • Copy file created in USB stick root
  • Power off Compulab gateway
  • Insert USB stick in one of the available USB ports on the gateway
  • Turn on Compulab gateway and wait 2 minutes
  • Power off Compulab gateway and remove USB stick
  • Power on Compulab gateway and access with default credentials (username: admin, password: gateway)


To check reset has been peformed, you could insert USB stick into a PC and check file on it has been renamed to .performed
