How to enable wire feed speed estimation

Introduction to the Wire Feed Speed Estimation Feature

Starting with Universal Connector firmware version 2.2 and WeldCloud Link app version 4.2.29, users can explore an exciting new feature: the alpha release of the Wire Feed Speed Estimation tool. This advanced functionality is designed to calculate key welding parameters such as wire feed speed, wire consumption, and net deposition rate during the welding process.

While the feature is currently in its research and development phase, it represents a significant step forward in welding technology. A full release is planned for the future, but until then, this alpha version offers an opportunity for early access and valuable feedback from users.

How It Works

To utilize the Wire Feed Speed Estimation feature, you need to:

  1. Scan the wire you are using.
  2. Enable the feature in the WeldCloud Link application.

The underlying algorithm leverages critical information about the wire type and automatically detects the welding mode in use, whether Pulse, short arc, or spray arc.

Compatibility and Availability

The feature is included in the update for all Universal Connectors; however, support is limited to certain wire types at this stage. If you are interested in testing this innovative tool and providing feedback, please contact the InduSuite team.

Please look at following instructions on how to activate this feature in WeldCloud Link app
